WHAT IS LOVE
We talk about love being blind or unconditional, in the
sense that we have no control over it.
One day a certain professor asked a young man during mealtime, "Why are you having fish" the lad responded by saying that ,He loved fish very much"That is the same response that most of us would give when cornered by a similar question. From the discussion that followed, it turned out that we eat "fish" because we love ourselves and not the fish.If we love the "fish" then we should not kill it."Fish love" is driven by a motive to satisfy oneself ' the love is motivated by "anticipation to receive satisfaction back".
People fall in love "with this strong anticipation" and in most cases the end is not anything to write about. We seek to receive physical or emotional satisfaction ,after which finding new reasons to love becomes a tumultuous exercise, then we end up in a situationship.
True love is inspired by GIVING , we should always look at what to give first not what we should receive.
God's love to us is actually like this, In John 3:16 ,For God so loved us (the world) that He GAVE his only Son ....
This is the same principle that is used by children when recruiting new friends, they start by giving out toys, stuff etc, likewise we should strive to find satisfaction in giving.
Before setting out to find true love,we should search ourselves first and outline our contribution in solidifying the prospective bond.If we understand love in this context, then we will understand the love that apostle Paul talks about in 1 Cor 13.4 - He says -Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
On the other hand Love that is inspired by receiving is neither patient nor kind, In most cases it's saturated with envy. Boasting is not a big deal and being proud is normal.
True love needs consistent, deliberate determined effort to "give" from all parties.
True love creates an unwavering, unbreakable and unparalleled fondness and devotion between the parties.
