What makes news - Hotels Business

Facts
It is a known fact that recreational Hotel business fluctuates with seasons across the globe, Investors in the industry know this well in advance before they commit resources .

Milking the season
Most industry players take advantage of the peak seasons to make their kill, It is in these seasons that labor force is increased, in order to match and  impress the many clients who patronize different hotels, this also applies to  other joints that tap the same source.
Visitors are thoroughly engaged during their stay through entertainment programs and sumptuous themed  meals .

Half time
In low season the leisure market segment shrinks, and so does all the variables including labor force. Owners take advantage of the time to upgrade  their products through renovations and face lifts, in order to maintain their competitive edge. Most Hotels close shop yearly  to achieve this especially in the Kenyan coast.

Recent development in destination KE.
The recent isolated  attacks on Kenyan soil have prompted US,UK, Australia & France to issue travel bans. With UK going an extra mile to evacuate its nationals. This has hurt the image of the destination and recovery plans are underway .
The KE media especially print, on the other side has taken the front line in tormenting the patient on the hospital bed.
Bold headlines everyday appear like glass particles on the water slide to the industry. The same papers are distributed to the paying guests in the hotel rooms since they have stay informed .It is normal for some Hotels to close in low season for renovations & product upgrade ,in readiness for high seasons, hence the job cuts.

If I was in the media I would give a cup of porridge & flowers everyday to the patient.

I would make headlines from the stories of the defiant Britons who are still enjoying their holidays in Destination Kenya , despite the advisories and the "un-called for evacuation"

I would make headlines from the increased security in the beach and Hotels, to restore confidence to Kenyans and the few guests who are still staying in the hotels.

It is sad that for the papers to say anything good about you , one has to pay , but they print and report bad news for free & magnify them in the headlines. This leaves the question "Who is the terrorist here"?.

We know a captivating headlines captures the Market but does it have to be "BAD NEWS" side ??.
Are headlines taken through a thought process ?, Are  implications considered ?. .

My two cent contribution.
